Sundays and certain high-ranking feasts (similar to the prayer customs
of the earliest Christians who celebrated the Vigil of Sundays and some
of the then current feasts (Martyrs, Apostles, e.g.)

each psalm had a verse from the Gospels, to aid in Christianizing the text).

day of the year included a reading at Compline; Sundays and certain
Feasts, because of the Vigil (Matins) included an additional reading
